Thank you. The user manual does not tell us that the drum counter has to be be set manually. The trick of leaving the door open is not contained in the user manual. I thought i had a defective drum. So simple, but so elusive.
Yes! Finally someone writes about compatible toner.
this don't work on my HL-4050CDN
Thank You… it works…
Doesn't work on mine either.
I followed these instructions, but was left hanging after step 6 because the control panel keeps scrolling through the colours It eventually stops, but how do I know everything has been accepted? Do I have to press OK or something?.
I couldn't get this to work. What am I doing wrong. Pushed the two buttons, never got the reset menu
Which button is the "GO" button?
It is a big green button. Also, you have MFC, you will have different instructions. I suggest when searching on Google to add model of your MFC because it may be different. The above instructions are for HL-2270 series printers.
I did use the model number in the search (7240) but I still keep getting messages about holding down the go button. Mine doesn't have one.
I turned my printer off. My green button is the start button. I don't have a GO button. I have the fax-2840. I have replaced toners several times drums. And it keeps telling me replace toner
Anyways I held the start button and it doesn`t start my printer back up.
power off is a switch
well done thnx

I followed your instructions of “How to Reset for Brother DCP-9020CDW, MFC-9130CW,9140CDN, 9330CDW, 9340CDW” for my MFC-9130 printer so that I hope to get access to reset menu. However, I tried many time, even if I pressed and holded the asterisk button up to 30 seconds, the “reset menu” was still not displayed. Why? Please help. Thanks in advance.

At next replenishments it will be sufficient to move the lever so that the printer can see the cassette like new. Element of the multiple use. In the set spring. You are filling the starting TN2220 cassette or TN2210, that is it is an essential element to, because in case of the original contribution pozbawiny is of both the casing and the sold resetter.
It didn't work for me either. Why should replacing the cardtridge be this hard?
Wow! Thanks! Too bad Brother doesn't supply that first option, the other one (which Brother has in the doc) didn't work for me at all.
Worked like a dream, but why oh why oh why? What is it with printers?!
I have DCP-7055 printer. before some days it displays the message “Print Unable 72” but when I reset the printer it shows Print unable 78. Please help me to solve this problem.
Reboot the printer after pressing the Secure and Cancel, then after reboot repeat Step 1 and 2 again. You should then see the reset menu appear.
replaced my drum and now it prints super slow on my brother hl-5470dw

brother 7055 model drum replacement showing error
Thanks it worked perfectly….
Brother refused to help me since it was a recycled drum. This was so easy!
It worked for me thanks.. great job
it works as long the printer stays on,
after a restart (without holding the menu button),
the printer is missing the toner again!
For this effekt (turning the printer on while holding the menu button),
there is no need to place tape over the 3 contacts on the side of the toner cartridge!

new cartridge. still keeps saying change toner cartridge
I used to be recommended this website through my cousin. I’m not positive whether or not
this post is written by means of him as nobody else understand such designated approximately my
trouble. You are incredible! Thanks!
Good article and useful. I use OEM for my deskject printer at http://www.empprint.co.uk
Replaced the drum in our machine because it kept giving a warning to replace it. Ever since replacing, the quality is TERRIBLE. We use this machine in a law firm and the quality is so poor there is no way we can submit printed pages to the Court. I’m at a loss. I’ve tried everything I can think of. Anyone else have this issue?
one of the few fixes that have worked for me lately……..at first I didn’t see the ” * ” but I tried again & it worked…..toner replacement is a racket……..but we bought an HP 4050 in 2001 and it gets 10,000 copies per cartridge and has never jammed ! …..the only thing is – a new cartridge is $180.00……..still, I’ve only replaced the cartridge once since 2001 and yes, I don’t make copies all day either……but brother should provide a longer lasting initial toner cartridge – at least 6000 copies…
sir/ma’am how about DCP L2540DW? how to reset this if “low toner” appear on its screen… please help me. thank you!
Tremendous things here. I am very glad to see your article.
Thank you so much and I’m looking forward to touch you.
Will you please drop me a e-mail?
Saved like a favourite, terrific web page!
thank u very very much brother …
How much is the replacement drum?
thank you for that, took a while as not pressing buttons quickly enough, but working now, had previously called brother helpline and they said they were not allowed to tell me how to do it and I would have to call an engineer!! All done now in a few minutes – magic.
thank you a lot. it worked.
thanks a lot. it worked.
Nope – neither option works on my MFC-7860DW
Actually, only the second option didn’t work for my MFC-7860DW. The first option wasn’t working because I had not put the asterisk (*) in front of 00. Thank you!!!
Thank you sir.
Brother compatible printer ink can be pretty cheap compare to other top brands OEM cartridges and it works perfectly coz of not having chips, there is no hassel for empty ink notifactions.
I would recommend to usegurantee remanufactured or refilled ink for Canon & HP printers.
I think the admin of this site is truly working hard for his site, as here every data is quality based stuff.
Had refilled the cartridge and reset the gears but the out-of-toner message remained. These steps cleared the message and reset the printer. The first thing I printed were these instructions to store with my printer for the next toner refill!
SERVICE UNTO BROTHER BRO— LUV YA—THANKS—CHEERS
WHERE is the button?? I have pushed everything that looks like a button and nothing happened!
Hi I already tried to reset the router but still got the same error message replace drum.. any other alternative?

Thank you for the HELPFUL INSTRUCTIONS. It worked like a Charm..!
Once again, thank you for Great Work (in DCP-7055).
That's Awesome!! All along we had to order new color toner cartridges every time they said it was getting low, even when we had rarely used the color printing….this is a great savings… I was just getting ready to spend and extra $200 + for 3 color cartridges and didn't even need them….Thanks so much!!
Theres no menu called Reset Parts Life, just called Parts Life, and presedure doesnt work
thank for the tip

Remarkable! Its genuinely amazing post, I have got much clear idea concerning from this article.
It seems toner ended in the screen and the printer does not accept the print command or it does not print. can u help please?
problem of TONER ENDED could not print plese help.
Toner Ended could not be solved. please suggest.
this did the trick, thank you. I could n’t get that message to go away, I had reset through the printer, turned off and on, took the cartridge out and check the tapes and sliders and reinstered few times..nothing. now my dad can print with his compatible cartridge that is non brother brand.
Very useful post for those who have struggled to install their printer. I have a Brother TN-241C toner cartridge. can you please tell me how i refill my toner and install into my printer?
Thanks alot for your useful and helpful information
These instructions did not apply to MFC-8950DW. With the front cover open, you have to press the exit button and then the STAR button to get to the Drum menu. Pressing 1 will only take you to the Toner menu. Neither of these are covered in the User Manual. Must have gotten lost in translation…
It works for me thanks.. great job
Thanks. it worked
Great info. Thanks for sharing this. I used to buy those reset gears from eBay and change them – you saved my time and the messy work!
Can you advise if there is a similar trick we can play with Ricoh MPC 4500 series color printers?
I’ve a brother dcp 1510 monochrome printer, displays the toner ended error. And I’ve waste lot of time to came out from this error. Anybody have idea about this problem? Please help me.
Works like a charm…thanks!
I just bought a HL3140CW model … but didn’t want to buy it until I found a way to reset the color cartridge counters. Based on the responses I see here, I think this is what I was looking for. Thanks.
Just a clarification. If I’m understanding the instructions correctly, each individual color cartridge counter must be reset – one at a time – meaning that to reset all 4 cartridge counters, I’d have to repeat steps 1 & 2 four times. Correct?
Put my printer on curb yesterday.Thankfully it was still there today. Works great, thanks
ohhh really good its working thanks looooot
Similar for my MFC-7860DW: The second option didn’t work. The first option did when the comments here pointed out the asterisk (*) in front of 00. Thanks! But then my printer revenged itself by disconnecting from my wifi…
Step 1. Open the front panel to access the toner
Step 2. Press the “Clear” button.
Step 3. Press the “Start” button.
(When you press START the screen should clear.)
Step 4. Press the “↓” or “Down Arrow” button.
Step 5. Press the “↑” or “Up Arrow” button.
(When you press the down arrow an ‘E0′ should appear, which will change to ’00’ when you press the up arrow)
Step 6. Press the “OK” button.
(When it says ‘ACCEPTED’)
Step 7. Close the front door.
Its working 100% thank you
